FAQ

Q:  Who needs to be fingerprinted?
A
:  As a rule of thumb, anyone who works or volunteers with children, the elderly or the disabled could be required by the ORC (Ohio Revised Code) to be fingerprinted for BCII or FBI criminal records background check.

Q:  I am required to get a background check done every year, do I have to come back every year?
A:
Since AFS uses the latest in 'store & forward' technologies once your prints are submitted by us all you need do is make a phone call to us when the time comes for your required resubmission.

Q:  What happens when the BCII or the FBI systems are not functioning properly?  I've heard when that happens prints can't be submitted and we have to come back another time.
A:
Another advantage to the 'store & forward' technology is not having to rely on an internet connection with the BCII or FBI to get your prints.  When we scan your prints digitally we 'store' them securely and then 'forward' them when the BCII or FBI systems are back on line.  This eliminates the inconvenience of you having to take time out your schedule to come back when they are ready.

Q:  I own a business and want to have all my employees fingerprinted, do I need to send them all to your office?
A:
No.  The AFS system is portable which means we can go anywhere.  If you have a group or individual that needs fingerprinted, but for some reason can't get to our offices, just give us a call and we will give you a quote and set up an appointment for us to come to you.

Q:  Do you fingerprint children?
A
:  Yes we do!  AFS actually has a useful 'ChildPrint ID Kit' which every parent should consider getting for each of their children.

Q:  What is a 'ChildPrint ID Kit'?
A
:  The 'ChildPrint ID Kit' is a great way to collect and preserve information about your child should something tragic happen.  It includes a chart for their fingerprints, a baggie with instructions on how to preserve a DNA sample (via the hair), a dental chart for your dentist to fill out, a page for a photo along with some great safety tips that will help prepare your child in the unlikely event a stranger tries to take them away.

Q:  I have a BCI or FBI card with my rolled prints and need to submit them electronically...what do I do?
A
:  It's pretty easy. Download and print out our Card Scanning form, fill out the form completely and mail it with your unfolded rolled print card(s) to the address on the form.  We'll scan and submit them within 24 hours after recieving them.
